Wednesday,Sep 30 2009, 04:55:39 PMWhat a shame!!
I am not amused by The Sun’s new move. What the Newspaper did was shameless. How could a newspaper, the "best selling" newspaper of a country declare their support to one particular party so openly? I would never trust a news paper like this, not that I ever buy Sun anyways. The news paper is for the people who have reading capability of 4th grade, and in my opinion is responsible for making people dwell only on so called celebrities scandalous lives, which teaches and encourages people nothing but adultery, lose moral, teenage sex and pregnancy.

Mind you, Sun did the same thing in 80s and when they saw Tories are not doing well, they switched their position and supported Labour before 1997 election. What a cheap, low moral newspaper!! I like the way, one NHS stuff rounded on Sun when it blamed Labour to fail the NHS. As Norma Stephenson said in health debate: "Shame on you, when you say this Labor government has failed the NHS, you are telling all those who work for the NHS that they have failed, too. You are wrong, wrong, and even more wrong." In my opinion, I yet have to see a sign where NHS has failed. I whole heartedly believe that NHS is the best health care system in the world. People should go and live in other countries to realize how efficient NHS is as a health care system.
I am so annoyed, why don’t people give Brown a break?! The guy has been trying so hard to help mending the big dent made in the UK economy by greedy bankers, and the shame brought to labours by MPs. The interesting point to note here is, it’s not only the Labour MPs who has misused tax payers’ money. What Tory and Lib dem. MPs did was equally shameful if not more. For example one Tory MP made a “duck house” in his home spending 16k from state treasury. One Lib dem. Mp made a heliport in his house!! The point is, none of this Brown's fault alone, it was much more to do with state policy when it comes to MPs expenses and international economy when it comes to dealing with highly ambitious bankers, although we must, as the progressive citizen of the country admit despite our political views, that he has his fair share in it. However, he has, at least, been trying hard to repair the damages caused by unwise policies and been very bold to take steps to mend the damages. There is no reason why he alone should shoulder all the blame.
It’s clear that Labour is not going to win next election (I will be very surprised if the did!). But Tories are not a better choice either. Labour is going to lose simply because of the reason that they have been in power for too long and people want to see some change in number 10. I hope people would, in fact, chose a 3rd party this time for a change. May be Lib dem? Or green party? Or something like that? People should, this time chose anything other than 2 main parties.

At least in UK no TV or Radio is allowed to be biased, but the PRESS are. Mostly published by the RIGHT WING, but NOT all. There are good papers too, but not popular!

Yeah, good papers are not popular. Onething is they are not for 4th grade reading capacity. One of my friend commented that, Sun's political editor has a very tough job, since he has to use his skills to write political nes for 4th greade reader who are over 30!! I read Gurdian maninly. Its a nice paper, but not one of the best selling i suppose.

We are members of the intelligentsia. Murdoch's news empire generally is pitched at the other end of the spectrum (not sure what to call them).
9/30/2009 5:28 PMWELL SAID!
It is absurd that one party can claim to rule outright with a minority vote. It is our non democratic voting system that allows one party to win "absolute" majorities. The same applies in local government. Some towns have huge majorities when barely 50% voted that way! For instance Hull use to have a local government where 50 seats were Labour and One LIB DEM! All the thousands of tory LD and other parties voters were in fact totally ignore!
Scarborough now has a "Rainbow " cabinet as no party has an overall majority. The cabinet is now made up of all parties that have 3 or more seats, including on Green.
Perhaps National government should take thios path, and let people matter instead of PARTY!

They could stop these undemocratic landslides by having a form of proportional representation, that balances up the party groupings better. The "new" Labour party PROMISED the public a referendum back in 1997, but have failed to keep that. They are now talking about offereing it IF they win the next election. What is wrong with having it AT the general election. We have Dfifferent forms of Proprtional voting in the Europe elections, and the Scottish, Welsh & Northern Ireland assemblies. WHY ARE THEY SO AGAINST allowing the English a fair system?!
:(
TORIES BACK IN :(:(:(:(:(
(But If they do I don't think they will be like Thatcher's lot! I HOPE)
