Hi, Jane, I don't know anything about living in villages, that's just a picture of a pretty place. But the nature sure is boundless up there. I can't wait to go again.
As my profile says, I'm looking for intelligent people, so I'm pleased that you are now my friend.

Pleasure and honor is mine! so I am an intelligent girl now? :)
Well, Josh, you must be patient with my English. Somtimes I can not understand and make me understood very well in English, as we don't speak english quite often in China. And I learn english mostly by myself. You know at my age of school in villages, including some cities, we had no English class till Junior high school, it was a completely new strange language for us, we mostly learned grammar for scores and the same when in high school. My major in college was not English, so no many chances in class to learn english. Now I still have to learn it, just not sitting in a classroom like a school student.

Hope you had a happy weekend Josh
I didn't have any systemic methods to learn English, that is why I couldn't give a good answer to my friends or classmates. In fact, the time when I started to learn english by myself was from college.
You know except in class, we seldom had chance to contact with English. But I did have great interest in it. So I often went to library to read some simple and funny english stories or composition or slogan, and I liked to pick up some inspiring and enlightening sentences and wrote them down. I could use them in test or exam which brought me high scores! and the high scores gave me self-confidence and encouragement in return which made me invested more interest in english.
And I often spoke to myself in my mind, as all the studenets in school only spoke chinese, no english. I played two roles at the same time, imagining I was talking to another person, questioning to myself, and answering to myself! So in this way, I practised my voiceless spoken which helped my later voice speaking. I tried to take part in some English Oral contest and some English corner, I didn't care making mistakes, but with great self-confidence.
Another one is also the important one, I think, was chatting online. At the time of my college, computers was starting to be popular, and many of students started to chat online at spare time, but almost all in chinese. Well, I had a stranger thought that time, why not chat in English? So when I had chance to be online, I almost only chatted with people who knew English, you know net is a complicated virtual place, and that time in my mind, those who could speak and chat in english would be more educated and had more good upbringing. I used what I had learn in and out of class to chat with them and I also could learn something from their talking, then gradually I found that I earned a great progress in English, and my typing was great too, which become one of my advantage for my job later.
Those were the ways I learned english, and till now I already have a habit only chat english online, seldom in chinese. So sometime my classmate kids with me that I am a quisling. hehe.
Well, now what I want to imporve more is listening and speaking, especially the native english, and reading the scientific articles! Can you please give me any tips Josh?

I'm doing OK. Just had a great dinner. Cooked it myself. Green beans, tofu with fresh-grated ginger, fresh chopped garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, black pepper, butter and the rice was cooked with garlic, brewer's yeast, miso, and lemon grass. It was the best.
The season and the amount of work I have are getting me a little down, though.

Hi! I'm Jodi. I just read what you had on that "match me" app. I like what you had to say and I like that you are so straight foreward. I love your pic, though I have a feeling you are a lion that has been trained to chat online. lol
My name is Jodi and I live in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Just because I'm in Alabama doesn't make me a "country girl", though I do have a weakness for picnics in wheat fields.
I'm probably making a complete fool of myself so I think I'll stop now. Have a great night!
