6. Allah's Messenger (saw) said: "It is a heavy thing for my heart if I do not seek Allah's forgiveness a hundered times a day.

Authenticated by â€" [Muslim 4/2075. Ibn Athir explains that the Prophet (saw) was always vigilant in his remembrance and drawing near to Allah, and if he forgot to do any of what he normally did from time to time, or it slipped his mind, he felt as if he had wronged himself and so he would begin to seek the forgiveness of Allah. See Jami' Al-Usool 4/386].

9. Allah's Messenger (saw) said: Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, and are loved by the Most Merciful One:

"Subhaan allahi wo bi hamdihi, Subhaan Allaahil â€" 'Adheem". ("Glorified is Allah and praised is He, Glorified is Allah the Most Great.")

Is dearer to me that all that the sun rises upon (i.e. the whole world).

Authenticated by â€" [Muslim 4/2072]

11. Allah's Messenger (saw) said: "Is anyone of you incapable of earning one thousand Hasanah (rewards) in a day?" Someone from his gathering asked, "How can any one of us earn a thousand Hasanah? He said, "Glorify Allah a hundred times and a thousand Hasanah will be written for you, or a thousand sins will be wiped away."

Whoever says: "Subhaan Allahil-'Adheemi wa bi hamdihi" ("Glorified is Allah the Most Great and praised is He".)

Subhaan Allah, Wal-humdu lillah, Wa laa ilaaha illallaah, Wallaahu Akbar (Glorified is Allah, and The Praise is for Allah, and There is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Allah is Greatest.)
It does not matter which one you start by.

Authenticated by â€" [Muslim 3/1685]

13. An desert Arab came to Allah's Messenger (saw) and said: "Teach me a word that I can say." Then Prophet told him, "Say: Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, Allaahu Akbaru kabee-ran, wal-hamdu lillaahi katheeran, Subhaan Allaahi Rabbil-'aalameen, laa hawla walaa quwwata illa billaahil â€" 'Azeezil â€" Hakeem. ("There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Who has no partner, Allah is the Greatest, Most Great, and praise be to Allah in abundance, glory to Allah, Lord of the worlds. There is no power and no might but by Allah the Mighty, the Wise.")
He said, "That is for my Lord, but what about me?" The Prophet (saw) told him, "Say: Allaahum â€" maghfir lee, warhamnee, wahadinee warzuqnee. ("Oh Allah forgive me and have mercy on me, and guide me and provide for me.")

12. Whenever anyone accepted Islam, the Prophet (saw) used to teach him how to pray, then he would instruct him to invoke Allah with the following words:

Authenticated by â€" [Muslim 4/2073, and in one of Muslim's reports there is the addition: "For these words combine [the goodness of] this world and the next."]

graded it authentic and Ath-Thahabi agreed 1/503. See Al-Albani, Sahih Al-Jjami' As-Saghir 1/362]

14. The good deeds which endure are: "Subhaan Allaahi, Wal-humdu lillahi, Wa laa ilaaha illallaahu, Wallaahu Akbar Wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa billaah" (Allah is Glorified and The Praise is for Allah, and There is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Allah is Greatest and There is no might nor any power except with Allah.)

Authenticated by â€" [Ahmad (no. 513) (Ahmad Shakir, ed.) and its chain of narration is authentic. See Majma' Az-Zawaid 1/297. Ibn Hajar mentions it in Bulugh Al-Maram saying that Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim considered it authentic].

15. How the Prophet (saw) glorified Allah: Abdullah bin 'Amr Razi Allah Unho said: "I saw the Prophet (saw) counting the glorification of his Lord on his right hand."

Authenticated by â€" [Abu Dawud with a different wording 2/281, and At-Tirmithi 5/521. See also Al-Albani, Sahih AlJami' As-Saghir 4/271 (no.4865)]

16. Types of goodness and good etiquette for community life: When evening descends then bring your children indoors for the devils scatter out at this hour. After the passing of an hour (i.e. the first hour) of the night then let them (the children) go. Close your doors while mentioning the Name of Allah, for the devil may not open a closed door. Fasten you water skins mentioning the Name of Allah. Cover you eating vessels mentioning the Name of Allah even if you just put something over it, and extinguish your lamps.
Peace and blessing be upon our Prophet, Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, all of them.

Authenticated by â€" [Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fath Al-Bari 10/88, Muslim 3/1595]

"Say: O 'Ibaadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah, verily, Allaah forgives all sins. Truly,He is Oftâ€`Forgiving, Most Merciful" [Quran â€" (Al-Zumar 39:53)]

Indeed, if his repentance is good, his bad deeds may be replaced with good, by the immense grace and mercy of Allaah, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And those who invoke not any other ilaah (god) along with Allaah, nor kill such person as Allaah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment.

The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace;
Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allaah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allaah is Oftâ€`Forgiving, Most Merciful" [Quran â€" (Al-Furqaan 25:68-70)]

Suhayl ibn Amr: In the path of God
Wednesday,Jan 16 2008, 03:46:47 PM

Patience of the SahabaWhen Suhayl became a Muslim he made a vow to himself which could be summarized in these words: to exert himself and spend in the cause of Islam at least in the same measure as he had done for the mushrikin.

With the mushrikin, he had spent long hours before their idols. Now he stood for long periods with the believers in the presence of the one and only God, praying and fasting.

Before he had stood by the mushrikin and participated in many acts of aggression and war against Islam. Now he took his place in the ranks of the Muslim army, fighting courageously, pitting himself against the fire of Persia and the injustice and oppression of the Byzantine empire.

In this spirit he left for Syria with the Muslim armies and participated in the Battle of Yarmuk against the Byzantines, a battle that was singularly ferocious in its intensity.

Suhayl was someone who loved his birthplace dearly. In spite of that, he refused to return to Makkah after the victory of the MusIims in Syria. He said: "I heard the Messenger of God, peace be on him, say: 'The going forth of anyone of you in the path of God for an hour is better for him than his life's works in his household.' "He vowed: "I shall be a murabit in the path of God till I die and I shall not return to Makkah."

For the rest of his life, Suhayl remained true to his pledge. He died in Palestine in the small village of 'Amawas near Jerusalem.

Ali Bin Abi Taalib:To Earn the Pleasure of Allah
Wednesday,Jan 16 2008, 03:34:47 PM

Manners of the Sahaba A father and a son were once guests of Imam Ali Bin Abi Taalib. As they arrived, the Imam received them warmly and arranged for their comfortable accommodation. In a room where they were seated, Ali sat opposite to them, engaging them in a friendly conversation. After the food had been served and eaten, the Imam's servant brought a basin and a pitcher full of water for washing the guest's hands. Ali took the pitcher himself and asked the father to extend his hands so that he could pour the water..

"How is it possible that my Imam serves me? It should be the other way," the guest said. Imam Ali said: "Here is your brother in faith, eager to serve his brother and to earn the pleasure of Allah. Why do you prevent him?" But the guest hesitated. Finally Ali said: "As your Imam, I request that you allow me the honor of this service." And when the guest complied, Ali said: "Let your hands be washed thoroughly. Do not hasten, thinking that I should be relieved of this duty early." When it was the son's turn, Ali instructed his own son Muhammad Ibn Hanafiyyah, to hold the pitcher and wash the guest's hands. Looking at the guests son, the Imam said: "I washed your father's hands and my son washed your hands. If your father had not been my guest today, I would have washed your hands myself. But Allah loves to see that when a father and a son are present in a place, the father enjoys a privilege and a priority.
