Am I the only one who feels that my brain is stimulated when I read? According to what I read, I find myself speaking differently, questioning differently and so on.  God forbid that I read too many Regency era books in a row! I even take on a slight English accent. I'm such a dork! LOL

But, this phenomenon says something about us as a society.  We watch some sexy scene and we want to have sex.  We watch horror and our blood pressure goes up. We watch Oprah and, well, feel guilty or question our life decisions, right? LOL

Do you find yourself wearing a particular piece of clothing or hairstyle because the newest starlet or star wears it that way? Did you know that before the movie, Office Space (yep, a person favorite and I DON'T appologize for that), Swingling did NOT make a red colored stapler! But, after that movie came out, there was such a huge demand for it, Swingline started making them and, to this day, they are the most popular.

Sometimes, entertainment; movies, books, music videos, magazines, blah, blah, blah, forms our opinions. We see in it some kind of logic we can relate to. If we agree with it, we empower it. If we disagree with it, we empower it. Anything other than totally ignoring it, empowers it. 

But, often I see entertainment reflecting who we are as a society, a group, an individual.  How often to you watch a movie and you see yourself up there on the big screen? You say, "I'm just like that!" or "I say that all the time!". 

Whether it forms us or reflects us, what we as a society see as entertainment says something about us as a whole, doesn't it?

Have you ever NOT seen a movie just on principle? You have something against the theme, the actor(s), the director, the budget (what would America be like if all those millions were spent on feeding the hungry?), so you don't buy into it.

Here is an absolute fact....you ready for this?

WE VOTE WITH OUR DOLLAR!

Think about that before you pick up a book, or see a movie. For better or worse, if we spend a dime on it, we've voted that it is okay to be preceived as entertaining.

This is part of the reason I like trailers. Movie trailers, game video trailers and Book Trailers. I get an idea of what's being sold to me, before I go and vote on it.
