Curioso's Journals An outgoing President's outgoing allies and archfoes searching for an outdated political solution in the Middle East??!!
How could a political solution
be achieved with this much non-eligibilities existing among the Leaders of either the
Middle Eastern allies and or even the arch foes such as Iran or Syria ,, or not
the least the United States’ diminishing face as the major player in this
Arena?!
President Bush’s recent visit to
the Middle East was due to accomplish two main objectives,,, Firstly: to reconfirm U.S-Israeli connections in the U.S's coming election in favor of his party candidate, Secondly: To reunite the Arab League in front of the arch foes, Iran and Syria.
1- Reconfirming the
U.S- Israeli ties with the present leadership of the country that unfortunately
for the President,,, is suffering from serious corruptions scandals. There is no evidence that the coming hard Liners of Israel will be on the same political path as Ehud Olmert tries to be , despite his shaky position after financial scandals.
2- Mahmmod Abbas the
head of the Palestinians on the other hand have no jurisdiction among the Hamas
occupied territories on the Gaza.
3- Hamas itself is
badly damaged by the reputation of being a marionette to Iranian and Syrian
subversive interventions in the region,, not being able to make a valid
successor of itself in case Mahmood Abbas fails to reunite the whole
Palestinian people. Jimmy Carters efforts failed to show a legitimate face of this movement to the world.
4- On the main Iranian
adversary side , even President Ahmadinejad has a challenge to confront by its own
hard liner allies , recently came to power in the Islamic Parliament. It seems that his office of being a good provocateur for his own goals and the U.S's Stronger position in the Persian Gulf has reached its goals and he is not needed any longer!!
5- Major Arab States
are either suffering from the internal conflicts with their eilts, opponents ,
or they are driving their own dirty wars in the other Arab countries ( Arab
brothers !) like the Saudis intervention in favor of Sunnits against the
Iranian backed Shiites. They have made a hell of sacrificing the innocent Iraqi
people under the remarkably soft and tolerant surveillance of the American
forces, who are driving in their own turns their own private war of American
strategic interests in the region.
6- However the same
major Arab states , refused to recognize
President Bush’s message of alignment against theirs and Americans arch foe ,, Iran and Syria. Both latter countries are
driving a civil mass destruction and genocide in Lebanon
by the name of the Hizbollah’s political interests in the Lebanon’s
eventual constitutional changes.
7- It is even mentioned
that Saudi Arabia’s major role in
supporting Hamas and even to some degree Hizbollah to create chaos and crises in an already
infected regions of conflicts is now documented even by the American Army in Iraq, Lebanon
and Gaza. The country even refused to produce more oil to pressure the present high prices .
8- In the meantime even President Bush’s
campaign against his party’s domestic opponent Obama in the Israeli Knesset ,
has caused strong reaction even among
the Republican Party’s candidates and congressmen.
The fact is that,,, non of the
political objectives of this trip is achieved as President did expect ,,, but
the question is , whether the visit to the region was fundamentally planned for
the political achievements after all??. A successful political goal of a visit
of this kind,, apart from its propaganda goals,, requires credible allies to fulfill its aims and even credible opponents to make
their efforts to provoke a political aggression by an out going President. As
the time on the office is numbered for everyone in this arena ( either by their
corruption scandals or losing their hardliner face even among their own
revolutionary comrades in case of Iranian leaders ) the arena will be emptier
than ever missing real statemen to achieve a valid political objective on several issues in the
region. Even the Arab Leaders with all their enormous problems with internal
and external opponents , did not join the promising alignment of the
President to mobilize their foreign policies against Iran
and Syria. We dont mention their cold reception of the President's Oil Price and production proposals.
The only consequence for a non-eligible( in his numbered days in office ofcourse,,, and surely not in his conduct of foreign policy ! ) President with Non eligible allies and opponents in a chaotic region
of the world together with the daily rising of the Oil prices and internal
economic turmoil is only to reclaim his credibility in his last days in office by
doing something drastic ( read war !!) out of the situation. This naturally
will save the face of President as the man of the “only words and bluffs”,,,
and certainly will be a good cure for the stagnating Oil price recessions and
the depressing Western Economy as a whole. Howevre,, there are strong evidences showing
that President Bush’s promises to end up the Middle Eastern Crises both on the
Israeli-Arab front and Iranian-Syrian interventions in the ongoing turmoil,
only through the political and diplomatic means are very much doubted by the
observers.
