5.12 14:28    A deadly 8.0 earthquake attacked SiChuan Province, took away more than 34,000 lives (many of whom were children as many schools knocked down) and destroyed the home of 10 million people.

5.19 14:28   I stood in silent tribute at the widow of our office building with my colleagues, facing the national flag at half mast on the square of our city hall not far away. It looks like the whole city was frozen, all the passersby stood still self-consciously, all the vehicles stopped by the road. Air defence alarm was sounded for three minutes all over the country, like a heartrending cry from this 1.3 billion people. It's a pray that hope the survived be strong and hope the deceased rest in peace.

During the last week, I got shocked by the power of the destructiveness of the quake, wept for those kids took away by the disaster, prayed for those buried under the ruins, and meanwhile deeply touched by the people from all side trying best to help the victims. The big disaster brought out the big love from nation which I had never felt this strong before.

There was a saying, though I don't remember who said it, it touched me in deed. That is "No matter how heavy the burden is, it becomes endurable when 1.3 billion people bear it together; no matter how tiny the contribution is, it becomes incredible power when 1.3 billion people help together!"
