“Mummy am ready to go” Jackie said impatiently to her mother “am gonna be late.”
“Darling, when have we ever been late? Sweetheart…oh you worry too much…let me do the worrying right?
“Ok mummy” Jackie sighed.
“And john don’t forget to pick your sister up after school I’ve got work…ok son?” she asked desperately.
“What? Okay I’ll do it.”
“You’re a life saver” she said this while shutting the door.

The bell rang very loudly she had to shout so that Jackie could hear her. “YOU’RE GOING TO BE FINE JUST WAIT FOR YOUR BROTHER OUTSIDE OK HUN?”
“Yes mummy” as she let her mum kiss her before she run to join a line with her friends. She watched her very careful until she was out of her site. “Love you…” she whispered silently as if her daughter could hear her.

News, neighbours, Colombo…oh this is more like it. John bent over the couch making himself more comfortable. As he always does eat, sleep and watch TV.
He grabbed a magazine and started reading it. “Brittney spears…again?” he said frowning at the paper john turned to the cartoon section. Read it and then tried to solve the soduko underneath.

Ring ring, john rushed for the phone “hello” he said trying to sound posh thinking someone wants him for a job. “Son are you on your way to pick up Jackie?” she asked “yes mum I said I’ll do it didn’t I?” he replied quite annoyed not to his mum but himself for forgetting the time. “Just checking son” then she hanged up. “Finnish the soduko then we will go eh?” john asked himself “sure thing” he replied.

Time goes so fast, this phrase has been coming true in john’s life as he’s getting older now at nineteen rushing late to pick up his little sister. He got to the school breathing heavily while checking his watch. He was twelve minutes late “Jackie” he called looking around but no answer. No one was in sight. He went round to the class no one there…not even the teacher. “oh my god what have I done?” he thought to himself “I cant even do a lousy job as to pick up my little sister no wonder am jobless…this is all my fault mums gonna kill me.”

Anna looked at the pile next to her “at least john is picking Jackie up” she said thinking it would have been impossible to do it. Her phone rung she waited twice before keeping it up. “Hello” she spoke casually to the phone
“Mum it’s me john I…I can’t find Jackie mum…I’ve looked everywhere.”
“What...hunny” she said thinking of last years prank he played on her and said
“Yeah and I have no children, single and a free woman” she said laughing silently
“Its no joke mum…seriously I was ten minutes late and she’s no where to be seen” she could feel his son panicking, she tried to be in control and said very quietly “don’t worry son am coming.”

Few minutes later she arrived and spotted her son immediately “don’t worry son” she went and hugged him “she’s still here I can feel it.” They tried checking again everywhere thinking of where Jackie could have gone but nothing. Anna started to panic now her daughter… her beautiful daughter ALONE. At that very moment they gave up and decided to go to the office and face the school suddenly Anna had a thought with no hesitation she pulled her son “come with me” with no idea what was happening john followed her and went through a door he’s never noticed before and there she was holding a ball in her hand…Jackie was playing basketball. “I thought so” john’s mum said smiling “come here Jackie” and she hugged her then looked at her happily she said “my little angel…you came to the after school club.”
