RE: THOSE SECRET TEARS Tears can be caused by overwhelming joy or pain. Either way, they are stream of water coming out of one’s eyes. The joyful tears need not be secret but those painful ones. I want us to see how our Heavenly Father treats our secret tears. There are some of us that need something so bad that when (it appears) all hopes are lost that we withdraw into our closets and weep. At night, we find it difficult to sleep and wet our pillows. If you have not passed through it, you are very lucky. I have passed this road many times. Don’t you laugh at me now because I am not alone here. The Psalmist once wrote; “My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, Where is your God? (Psalm 42:3).” This is how bad it can get because when you are along this road, even your friends turn against you and laugh at you. Lamentations 1:2 has it this way; “She weeps bitterly in the night, and her tears are [constantly] on her cheeks. Among all her lovers (allies) she has no one to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies.” The account of King Hezekiah is an example of such tears. When God sent Prophet Isaiah to go and tell him to keep his house in order because he (the King) was about to die, he cried unto the Lord (2 Kings 20:1-3 and Isaiah 38:1-3). Have you ever been there? Have you ever sat down or laid to down and weep as if you want all the tears in you to finish? Have you given up hope because you have been told by professionals or experienced people that there is no other way out? So all hopes gone? I don’t think so. Until God says it is over, you are still on. Do just what King Hezekiah did; “2. Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord 3. And said, Remember [earnestly] now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in faithfulness and in truth, with a whole heart [absolutely devoted to You], and have done what is good in Your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly (Isaiah 38:2-3) Do I hear you say you are not close to God? Do not worry because Jesus covers you too in John 6:37 “All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me].” Just give Him (God) His Word as quoted above. When you do, your message will be like what God sent to the King in Isaiah 38:5. “Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add to your life fifteen years.” Read Matthew 11:28 , and finally listen to this; Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail (Psalm 55:22).” I pray that Prophet Isaiah’s wish will come into your life as recorded in Isaiah 61:3 “To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Weep no more for it is finished (John 19:30 ).
