I feel sorry the poetry contest moved offline here at Zorpia. So here's another take on tropical halloween:
Alligator Boots
Don't touch me, my body is thorny,
armored and scaly, mouth gaping,
I growl, menacingly, lurch forward
hungry to bring you to swamp,
the thing in the soup, the gravel slip of boot
and you're down and everyone
on top, wanting all the candy of life,
to feed on, but don't want to pay the price
of homage to the ancient, the survivors, the primitive
parts of our mind that want to run
loose.

Happy Halloween All!
Meanwhile, I've written two Halloween poems (I get paid by the hit if you click the link, just telling you to be forewarned, and it won't cost you anything but your time):
and
and a Halloween Story:
and found out my short story "Essin and the Summer of Secrets" will be out in Chimera World 6, New World Disorder by Halloween, it costs and if you're interested send me mail with the title, I can get you a lower priced copy.
