Verge of Collapse was formed in the basement of guitarist Brandin Paulsin's Kasson home along with Ryan "Bel" Knudson (vocals), Adam Kopsidas (vocals) and Bobby Denny (drums). Erich Lechelt joined as the first bassist but soon left to join the Mankato based group Phedge. Shortly after Erich’s departure, Dom Avila joined the band to play bass. Within no time (with some help from Phedge) VOC had their first show at the What’s up Lounge in Mankato, MN. With a few shows under their belt in the Rochester area, the group finally solidified the two-guitar sound they wanted with the addition of Nate "Norch" Merchant on guitar. The next step for VOC was to get in to the studio, getting the sound they wanted at Woodshed Studios in Rochester and releasing a nine-song demo (available upon request). Along with recording, the next few months also consisted of writing new material and playing as many shows as possible, spanning from Rochester to Rogers. The final stage in the Bass player saga came when Dom left the band for personal reasons and Luke Hendrickson joined becoming the newest member of the VOC family. This has made the band as strong as ever. Which brings us to today. VOC is currently working on new material and playing as many shows as possible. Most important to Verge of Collapse is to grow a fan base of astronomical proportions along with lasting friendships with other great bands. VOC pride themselves on their high energy music and shows. The more people at a show giving their all will in turn receive all that VOC has to offer. Also in VOC's future plans is to record and release their first full length album. Expanding the arms of the Verge of Collapse sound outside Minnesota, reaching anywhere that the metal sound is being consumed, and bringing back the noise where metal may have disappeared are also goals for this year. As they are always looking for new bands to play with and new fans to play for, VOC can be contacted at www.myspace.com/vergeofcollapse. Check it out. "We Give, You Take. You Give, We Take!" |
