When You Are Dead And Gone

 In this human existence, in this human world,

T'is natural that one ages, falls ill and dies.

Nevertheless, when you are dead and gone,

Your birthplace, your land,

should have remained improved.

Your national language and literature

should have remained enhanced.

The temple where you pray and share your merit.

The torch of knowledge and the light of truth

should have remained a - glitter

Love And Hate

I love you, I care for you,

however we say

and pray till we die,

only when we are destined to be so

shall we be united in wedlock.

 I hate you, I do hate you,

however we say

and curse till we die

only when we are fated so

shall we be separated.

Wavelet, You

Do you come

From the ocean's far reaches

To the shrine on these beaches,

Oh, friend, wavelet, you?

 You come,

make momentary sound,

Shed your old form,

Assume a new look

And make as if to leave for the wide sea.

 Where you come from,

To which port you will go

I shall not guess.

But on your maritime way

you bore on your back,

Serving as a raft

The gull tossed by wind and wave,

I have been gladdened by this thought.

 Where Beauty Is?

Wanting to go where beauty is

often I complained unhappily.

 Their land is beautiful and pleasant, I hear

and hearing so I have wished to go where is beauty is.

Now my mind is clear and joyous.

This land is wide with field and garden,

picturesque with river and lake,

and when with her I pray at the shrine

on hill-top and on the sides of hills

with a mind pure and expensive,

I repeated by say the mother-land is pleasant

till my words reverberate  across the sky.

 Thought I hear their land is pleasant

my mind is perturbed no more.
