i get what you're saying. i didn't get why he was doing that. i thought he was tuning the guitar in the middle of the song. lol

uhm... that's actually technically a bit true~! :) See he had to "tune" it to a "drop D" tuning so that he could reach the frets properly with this hands... what I really like looking at here though is his form its just so absolutely clean, and doing it on a steel guitar is hard

thanks for explaining. i do get that he had to tune it to a "drop D" now, but while he was doing it, i didn't. i actually thought he was just tuning it for the sake of tuning. lol
i agree though, it looked beautiful. i tried to learn guitar many years ago, but it wasn't easy for me -- couldn't reach many of the notes and the strings were really tough on my hands (and i had nylon strings even!)

well well, nylon's the softest, its the best to learn on -- I keep a steel one for conditioning my hands so that if I ever encounter a nylon string guitar, itll be super easy to play on it :)

I saw this bassist out here use that same tuner technique thing in a jam once -- he was doing his thing, making the lead, and then starts fiddling with the tuner, but kept it in beat! it was pretty cool :)

steel strings are brutal. i'm not cut out for it. i'll stick to piano i guess. that's cool that you play though.
sounds interesting about the bassist. i've never seen anything like that.

oh yea Piano's something I wanna learn! I heard its a lot easier to learn all other instruments once you know how to play the piano (its something to do with reading the notes I think)... I am totally lost with the notes, haha! All about half steps and full steps and higher octaves? *scratches head*

LOST! lol

actually, that may be somewhat true. reading notes helped a lot when i was trying to learn (classical) guitar. but playing piano is probably easier than most instruments. the half steps and full steps and higher octaves would be the same on the guitar. guitar is so tough on the hands though! ouch!
hehe

Antoine Dufour is great, along with Andy Mckee and Don Ross.

yea Andy Mckee rocks he was the first artist that made me aware of candyrat.com :)
I like how he lowers it to drop D in the middle of the song I thought that was a bit flamboyant lol

most people will think it's long because they want some sort of lyrics to be in there along with the playing... say for a musician who likes watching concerts with 20-minute jams / leads this is perfect
